Saturday the
13
th was officially Big Daddy Barry's
birthday and as it has been for over 10 years,the Firewater 50 took place. I had thought about riding it, but did not so my great friends did not have to hang out and wait on me. Plan B was riding Windy Gap and
Tibbs. That also changed that morning as after a long week of work and riding, I was just tired when the alarm went off at 6:30. So, plan C was developed, which was just to drive down and help with the food. Sam and I got things ready for the guys, and Sam started up the grill. Being perhaps a bit over zealous with the lighter fluid Ralph's grill was no longer a shiny red. The first rider Shane, arrived after about 4 hours and 15 minutes, winning the coveted undergarment. Props to him for a great ride and a great sense of humor. Sam and I kicked into gear and made sure everyone officially finished the event by downing their shot of Firewater. The day was not without a visit to the ER, as Florida, whose birthday it also was celebrated in bloody style.
All in all, a great day was had. Three birthdays and one bottle of firewater are in the books.
